On America's Side
The Freer American is an independent publication about America—what makes her work, what is weakening her, and what is still worth defending and celebrating.
We publish arguments worth making, plainspoken explanations, and stories about American life. Some pieces are political. Others are about culture, business, history, towns, traditions, movies, or the ordinary things that make a country feel like home.
We do not chase every headline or manufacture outrage to fill the page. We focus on ideas, institutions, policies, and ways of thinking that matter beyond the news cycle.
The Freer American is unapologetically pro-America. That does not mean pretending the country is perfect. It means believing America’s principles are worth defending, her failures should be confronted honestly, and her best qualities should not be treated as embarrassing.
We believe in freedom, constitutional government, personal responsibility, national strength, and the American way of life. We also believe those ideas should be explained in plain English—not buried beneath academic language, political jargon, or empty slogans.
This publication is not for everyone.
The Freer American is for people who choose America’s side—and want the country to be stronger, freer, and better than it is today.
